The volume of investments into the development of the Kazakhstani sector of the Caspian Sea in 2011-2015 is expected at the level of $16.8 billion.

Zhakyp Marabayev, managing director of JSC "NC "KazMunaiGaz," has stated this today, September 6, at the first Eurasian Energy Forum, Kazakhstan Today correspondent reports.

"The oil & gas sector of the Caspian Sea enters a new phase of its development, opening significant prospects of the country as the biggest oil & gas producer and exporter in the world, which will require significant investments into the oil & gas," Mr. Marabayev said.

According to him in 2003-2005 the volume of investments into the development of the Kazakhstani sector of the Caspian Sea amounted to $3.8 billion. "Accroding to forecasts the volume of investments into the development of the Kazakhstani sector of the Caspian Sea in 2006-2010 is expected at the level of $12.9 billion and in 2011-2015 - $16.8 billion," he has stressed.
