Emergencies Minister, Colonel-General Kamaladdin Heydarov today received Peter Thomson, manager of the World Bank Infrastructure and Energy Sector for Europe and Central Asia.

As APA informs, Minister Heydarov thanked for the World Bank's interest and assistance to reforms in Azerbaijan adding mutual relations give fruitful results.

Mr.Thomson said he has arrived in Azerbaijan to discuss the issues regarding the World Bank's participation in the project for cleansing Absheron peninsula as well effecting reforms in water, sewerage and transport sectors.

The visitor also reminded his meeting with President Ilham Aliyev and said the project is being discussed commenting on measures to cleanse oil-polluted soils in Absheron peninsula. Mr.Thomson recommended establishing an agency to address this problem and noted the WB will finance the project at initial stage.

Mr.Heydarov approved the WB attention to this issue noting that relations are expanded with different states to address this problem, cleanse oil-polluted soils.

The Minister also touched on recent meeting chaired by President Ilham Aliyev aiming to improve ecological situation in the country and said the Emergencies Ministry's priority is to take all actions to ensure people's health, security of territories. He also added the Ministry has prepared proposals to solve the problem.
