As of June 1, savings of Azerbaijani population in the banks reached AZN 581.4mn which represents an increase of 36.8% as against last year respective period.
State Statistical Committee informs that saving in foreign currencies rose 28.5% to AZN 495.6mn and savings in national currency rose 2.2 times to AZN 85.8mn. 58% (AZN 336.7 mn) of the savings were put in private banks. The committee also stated that the weighted average exchange rate of the AZN against 1 USD was AZN 0.90/USD, against 100 rubles was AZN 3.32/RUR and against 1 euro was AZN 1.14/EUR in June, 2006. The exchange rates have fallen 0.01 and 0.04 and risen 0.02 respectively, APA reports.
