The World Bank is ready to allocate $500m to Azerbaijan to be invested in renovating roads of nationwide importance, Deputy Transport Minister Musa Panahov says.
"The WB has suggested extending the Baku-Shamakhi-Muganli highway. The bank is also ready to contribute to upgrading the Yevlakh-Beylagan-Balakan road extending to the border with Russia and from Beylagan to the Iranian border [in the south]," Panahov told journalists Monday. According to AssA-Irada, he said that although the project is valued at a total of $300m, the WB has offered $500m to fund the operations. Panahov said the bank is also taking interest in funding activities to improve the entire transport infrastructure of the capital Baku. The WB has offered a grant to develop a relevant project. "We can solve the issue by the year-end and tackle the work next year," the deputy minister said. /AzerNEWS/
