Azerigaz will start suspending gas supplies to clients failing to pay for the services in March of this year, Azerigaz first vice chairman, Nazim Samedzade told.

According to Trend, gas supplies have been suspended in 32 Azerbaijani settlements, he said. These measures appeared to be useful. "Gas payments have increased in 50%".

According to Samedzade, gas payments during these 2 months made up 18,4% (7m 168,000 AZM against expected 38m 999,000 AZM). In 2005 this number grew to 22,9% (19bln 742m AZM against expected 503bln 502m AZM).

Azerigas decided this year to raise payments from population not only via bank and post offices but their employees as well. "However, this decision did not appear to be worth. Our employees wouldn't raise money from the population beginning with this month".
