American company plans to transport 4-5 million tons of oil a year through Azerbaijan.

According to AssA-Irada, US oil major ChevronTexaco has signed agreements with the state enterprises of Azerbaijan on transporting the oil produced from the large Kazakh Tengiz field to Georgia through the country's territory, the Azeri deputy transport minister Musa Panahov has said.

"Chevron has recently reached contracts with the Caspian Shipping Company and the Azeri state railway office on transporting oil, starting late in 2006-early 2007," he told reporters.
