Although the government does not fix the price of bread, it will take serious measures against companies intending to raise the price of bread in connection with increase of price of fuel.
As APA reports according to the information given by the Cabinet of Ministers, there is enough grain supply in the country at present and therefore grain-producing companies should not raise the price of bread. It was informed from the government that today domestic production meets 90% of the demand to bread and the remaining part is satisfied due to grain import from Kazakhstan and Russia. It should be noted that in 2005 cereals production in Azerbaijan decreased by 2.6% in comparison with the previous year and formed 1.565 million tons; 1.38 million tons of it were envisaged for food. Norm of grain per person factually formed 160 kilograms against 183 kilograms last year.
