The SOCAR plans to increase oil and gas production through drilling new wells.
The SOCAR told Trend in 2005 the oil and gas production units of the Azneft Production Association of SOCAR plan to exploit 71 new wells and drill around 138,500 meters. At present a drilling schedule is under development and the indices will be clarified afterwards. The schedule will contain the term of drilling, depth of wells and necessary equipment for drilling.
In 2004 over 109 new wells were commissioned in the fields of Azneft, or 18 well up the target. In this period '28 May' commissioned 5 wells, Neft Dashlari - 17, Narimanov - 1, Balakhanineft - 8, Gum Adasi - 6, Absheronneft - 9, Bibiheybat - 14, Binagadineft - 6, Surakhanineft - 5, Amirov - 8, Bulla Daniz - 1, Tagiyev - 4, Siyazanneft - 5.
Last year the drilling units of SOCAR spudded 143,972 meters. Bayil Limani drilling and exploration work drilled 21,965 meters, Guma Adasi - 18, 586 meters Neft Dashlari - 12,955 meters, Absheron - 18,114 meters, Kursangi - 16,951 meters, Gobustan - 23,089 meters, Siyazanneft - 8447 meters, Bulla Daniz - 6247 meters, Absheronneft - 10639 meters, Binagadineft - 1080 meters, the Topography and Complex Geological Exploration Unit - 5899 meters.
The same time the foreign operating companies carried out drilling work on the Azerbaijani sector of the Caspian sea.
