Turkish Airlines (THY) has cancelled 610 flights at the Ataturk International Airport in Istanbul due to heavy snow, the Anadolu Agency reported Jan. 7.

Reportedly, 5,900 passengers have been placed at hotels due to the cancellation of flights. About 20,000 passengers have been provided with food at the Ataturk airport.

It was also noted that 192 flights of Pegasus Airlines have been cancelled at the Sabiha Gokcen International Airport.

The agency reported that the heavy snow in Istanbul has a negative impact on lives of millions of inhabitants of the megalopolis. The snow depth has reached 40 centimeters in some areas.
