The State Control Service for Technical Regulation and
Standardisation at the Azerbaijani State Committee on Standardisation,
Metrology and Patents has inspected some 600 companies in the republic
between January and September, the acting head of the service Abulfat
Imanov told journalists on Thursday.
"Serious violations have been exposed at 443 enterprises resulting in decisions to shutdown 120 enterprises," Imanov said.
The total amount of penalties given to over 100 enterprises amounted
to 164.000 manat. In total, penalties to the sum of 50.000 manat were
transferred to the treasury.
Imanov added that the number of food industry enterprises with
serious violations exceeded 320. Some 110 bakeries, over 500 enterprises
on the production of alcoholic beverages and around 50 meat and dairy
enterprises are amongst those breaching the regulations.
He added the violations are mostly due to insanitary conditions,
discrepancy with the requirements on the use of equipment and expired
products.
