Azerbaijan and Portugal are interested in increasing bilateral trade turnover, Azerbaijani Deputy Economic Development Minister Niyazi Safarov said Azerbaijan-Portugal business forum in Baku today.

"Azerbaijan is a country that invests in foreign countries," he said. "I think that Azerbaijani companies' interest in Portuguese economy will also increase and they will invest in investment-attractive areas in Portugal." He said statistics show a low level of trade turnover between the countries, but there is great potential to increase it. This business
forum will have a positive impact on the expansion of economic cooperation between the countries.

About 20 Portuguese companies, representing such sectors as construction, food, chemical industries, ICT and others attended the forum. A Portuguese delegation is headed by Portuguese Minister of State, Minister for Foreign Affairs Paulo Portas.

The business meeting was organized by Azerbaijan Export and Investment Promotion
Foundation.
