The protocol was signed by the heads of the State Statistics Committee of Azerbaijan and the Federal State Statistics Service of Russia in the result of negotiations held in Baku, the SSC told on Monday.

The meeting was attended by Chairman of the State Statistics Committee of Azerbaijan Arif Veliyev and head of the Federal State Statistics Service of Russia Alexander Suriname, whom have discussed the current state of bilateral cooperation and the its future development.

The sides expressed their intention to strengthen cooperation in the publication of statistical publications, exchange of statistical methodology and data.

"Cooperation in the field of statistics should be directed to the unification of the major approaches and methodological principles that will provide an opportunity for information support of the Azerbaijani-Russian inter-governmental cooperation in the future," said in a statement.

New priorities for the development of cooperation taking into account the interests of both parties in the field of statistics. It is expected to sign an updated agreement in this regard.
Cooperation between the State Statistical Committee of Azerbaijan and the Federal Service of Russia is based on the agreement signed in 2001.
