Armenian government's ineffective policies have further deteriorated social conditions in the country where one third of population are living in poverty.

Armenians are suffering from negative consequences of upcoming hike in the electricity tariff by 10 percent.

"Prices of several goods have risen over the past two weeks," local media reported.

The Public Services Regulatory Commission decided to increase electricity tariff on July 1, despite mass social protests.

The commission said an increase in electricity tariff was inevitable because the country's electric networks was in a difficult situation with their debt reaching 16 billion 600 million drams ($40,291,354).

However, local experts say the decision is groundless and unjust.

Local media reported further that an increase was also recorded in the prices of locally produced goods.

"The price hikes are not unexpected. It is widely believed that the prices of all types of locally produced goods will increase especially after August 1," media report said.

Local media predicted that the population's social situation will significantly deteriorate especially in winter.

The new government has not yet adopted any decision aimed at improving the population's social situation. The authorities' inaction has worsened the population's welfare. This in turn has increased the migration outflows from Armenia.
