The Court of Heavy Crimes completed the trial of the gang members, who were suspected of planning terrorist attacks in Baku and regions on the eve of Eurovision song contest 2012 and having links with SEPAH, APA reports.

 Judgment was passed at the trial. According to the judgment, Kamal Yagubov was sentenced to 14 years, Rashad Shahbazov to 13 years and 6 months, Rajab Abbasov and Afig Allahverdiyev to 13 years in jail.

On the eve of Eurovision 2012 song contest the National Security Ministry conducted special operations in Baku, Sumgayit, Ganja, Gakh, Zagatala, Guba and rendered harmless 40 people.
They faced charges under articles 273 (high treason), 29,214.2.1, 29,214.2.3 (attempt by a group of persons, organized gang to commit terrorist attack), 206.4 (smuggling), 228 (illegal purchase, transfer, selling, storage, transportation and carrying of fire-arms, accessories to it, supplies, explosives) of the Criminal Code.

The embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Azerbaijan refuted the reports on those persons’ links with SEPAH.
