Azerbaijan`s Embassy in Uzbekistan has organized Friday an event to mark the Day of Solidarity of World Azerbaijanis. The event brought together the embassy`s officials, cultural figures, members of the Azerbaijani Diaspora organizations and journalists.
Opening the event, ambassador Namig Abbasov read out the text of the message of President Ilham Aliyev to the World Azerbaijanis. He said this holiday was associated with national leader Heydar Aliyev`s name.
The ambassador noted the holiday was held for the first time in 1991 in the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic. Abbasov highlighted the ongoing reforms in Azerbaijan.
He also spoke of President Ilham Aliyev`s speech at the 11th Summit of Economic Cooperation Organization held recently in Istanbul. The diplomat also read out the text of Uzbek President Islam Karimov`s letter to President Ilham Aliyev on his birthday. He added this letter once again shows how relations between Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan were close.
