Azerbaijan to host football tournament in memory of Heydar Aliyev

The Media Cup-2011 football tournament for media outlets will soon be held in Azerbaijan. The event commemorates national leader Heydar Aliyev.

The first-place winner will receive a $1,000 manat cash prize. The second- and third-place winners will receive 500 and 300 manat cash prizes.

The tournament has been organized by the Sharg newspaper for eight years. This year, the event will be held at Baku State University on Saturdays and Sundays, Akif Ashirli, the newspaper’s chief editor, said at an event at the Trend News Agency Press Center.

He said 10 teams will participate at the event.
