Demonstration by Japanese aikido masters held in Baku

Event on demonstration by Japanese aikido masters and members of Azerbaijan Aikido Federation within “International Japan-Azerbaijan Aikido days” took place on Wednesday in the hall of ABU Arena Sport Center in Baku.

Opening the ceremony, after the performance of state anthems of Azerbaijan and Japan, Japanese ambassador Shusuke Watanabe highlighted the steadily deepening relations lasting 20 years between the two countries. He noted Japan Embassy in Azerbaijan has already been functioning for 10 years and expressed confidence for boosting relations in sport area of both countries.

Japanese aikido master Mr. Kanazawa Takeshi expressed his satisfaction being in Baku for the first time. He touched upon a three-day seminar trainings and demonstrations of the traditional Japanese martial arts Aikido to Azerbaijani people. Mr. Kanazawa thanked for the conditions created for them.

The president of Azerbaijan Aikido Federation Farhad Alasgarov informed participants about the history of aikido and spotlighted the interest of youth to this sport in Azerbaijani regions, as Ganja, Sheki, Shamakhi, Ismayilli, Oghuz and others.

Finally, masters from Japan and Azerbaijan Aikido Federation demonstrated examples of the ancient Japanese martial art.

The event is organized by Japan Foundation, the Embassy of Japan in the Republic of Azerbaijan, Azerbaijan Aikido Federation and is supported by the Ministry of Youth and Sports of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
