Azerbaijani football federation dissatisfied with judges' attitude to matches

"The Azerbaijani Championship was well organized. However, there is much left to be desired in the judges' attitude toward the matches," Rauf Aliyev, AFFA vice-president, told Trend.

He said that AFFA regularly hosts various workshops for judges through UEFA. It offers courses with highly qualified professionals in Turkey each year. "AFFA does a lot for the judges both in the educational and financial sphere," Aliyev said.

He noted that judges got 200 manat last year, but now they receive 800 manat for a match.

"I am very concerned over the disputes between the judges during the Azerbaijani championship. These negative events will not help to develop football in Azerbaijan. As a result of these actions, our football players lose courage. Our judges sometimes behave very badly," AFFA vice-president said.

Leaders of football clubs complained on many occasions about the decisions of judges, especially when fixing penalties and offside penalties during the Azerbaijani national football championship this year.

For example, the referee in the eighteenth round of the championship between "Karabakh" and "Mugan" made a big mistake when he ended the first half of the match at the 43rd minute, claiming his watch was to blame. This resulted in the players having to play two extra minutes before the second half could begin.
