Azerbaijani gymnasts win gold and silver medals at the International tournament

Azerbaijani gymnast Anna Gurbanova won a gold medal at the Gorenkova Memorial Games in Omsk. She finished first in the final with the jump-rope, leaving behind 2010 world champion D. Dmitrieva (Russia) and Estonian A. Makushina, the Azerbaijani Gymnastics Federation reported.

"My use of the jump-rope was successful," she said. "How did I perform in other events? I was very close to the bronze medal in the all-around event, and finished in fourth place."

Meanwhile, fellow Azerbaijani gymnast Alia Garayeva is preparing for the 2011 season after winning a silver in the final round of the recent Italy club championship in Turin.
