First-ever rock climbing wall opened in Baku

Slightly more than half a year ago, Azerbaijani Ali Tahmazov and Polish citizen in Azerbaijan Michal Pyasetski decided to build the first climbing wall in the country. At the stage of active construction, athletes from Baku mountain sports club helped to build the wall as volunteers.

The climbing wall has also rental equipment. Climbing wall is open and ready to accept all comers, regardless of age. There are groups for children, as well.

Head of Azerbaijan Mountaineering Federation Israfil Ashurlu was also involved in the opening of the climbing wall.

"In previous years our athletes didn’t have an opportunity to continue rock climbing training in winter and had to wait for spring. Rock climbing wall made it possible for athletes not to stop the training and to train a year-round,” Ashurlu said in his interview with AzerTAc.
