Azerbaijan's MMA fighters win 16 medals in European championship

Junior European Championships on Universal Fighting has wrapped up in Anapa, Russia. Spokesperson for the Azerbaijan Universal Fighting Federation Aysel Sultanova said Azerbaijani athletes have claimed 16 medals.

Gold awards in the classical version were secured by Kamran Talyshinsky (70 kg, 14-15 years) and Tabriz Gasimov (75 kg, 14-15 years). In the light version Khan Mammadov (85 kg, 16-17 years) was the best. Azerbaijani fighters also won five silver and eight bronze medals.

Azerbaijani team performed in Anapa under the leadership of head coach Farhad Ojagverdiyev and senior coach Elshan Ismayilov. In the team event Azerbaijan took 2nd place, losing only to Russia. In total, the European Championship was attended by 289 athletes from 41 countries.
