Azerbaijan women's volleyball team is getting ready for the European Championship, Azernews reports.
Polina Rahimova, Odina Aliyeva, Elizaveta Ruban, Margarita Stepanenko, Nikalina Bashnakova, Ulker Karimova, blockers - Ayshan Abdulazimova, Elena Kharchenko, Aynur Imanova, Maria Kirilyuk, Anastasiya Mertsalova, Kseniya Pavlenko, playmakers - Kristina Besman, Yana Doroshenko, Shafagat Alishanova, liberos - Yulia Karimova and Beyaz Guluyeva will compete for the medals.
Recall that the national volleyball team participated in the European Qualifying Tournament for the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo. The tournament was held from 7 to 12 January in Apeldoorn.
Group A included teams from the Netherlands, Poland, Bulgaria, and Azerbaijan.
Group B included teams from Turkiye, Germany, Belgium, and Croatia.
The game brought together women's volleyball teams from the (Netherlands, Poland, Bulgaria, Azerbaijan, Turkiye, Germany, Belgium, and Croatia).
In the final match of the group stage, the national team, which had lost its chances of reaching the semi-finals, faced Poland. The rivals had beaten the hosts 3-1 the day before, making it through to the top four.
The final stage of the European Championship will run from August 15 to September 3. The volleyball game is co-hosted by Belgium, Italy, Germany, and Estonia.
The Azerbaijani team will face the Czech Republic, Turkiye, Greece, Sweden, as well as Germany (host country) in Group C.
