Azerbaijani fighters win Eurasia Kempo Championship

Azerbaijani kempo fighters have won 2017 Eurasia Kempo Championship.

The championship took place in Baku's Hovsan Olympic Complex, Trend Life reported.

The tournament brought together kempo fighters from Azerbaijan, Turkey, Georgia, Iran, Pakistan and Russia.

About 600 athletes and 41 clubs competed in Kempo Full, Kempo Submishn Gi, Kempo Submi?n NoGi, Kempo PRO and Kempo Semi  in various weight and age categories.

The tournament was co-organized by the Main  Baku City Youth Sports Head Department, Azerbaijan Kempo Federation, Association of Oriental Combats and "Togrul"  sport club.

Kempo as the term used as a general name for all martial arts, regardless of ethnicity.

The training methods are divided into three parts: self-defense training, mental training, and health training. The basis are the concepts that "spirit and body are not separable and that it is integral to "train both body and spirit".

Azerbaijani kempo fighters have achieved success in European level. This year, national kempo fighters  won medals at the 10th  European Championships in Romania.

Valeh Guliyev became the winner in the weight category of 95 kg in Kempo Full. Silver medalists included Vusal Galandarov (+95 kg) and Nijat Huseynov (75 kg) in Kempo Semi.

The bronze medal came from Shamsi Huseynov ( 60kg) in Kempo Semi and Khayal Mammadzade (75 kg) and Mahir Alakparov (65 kg) in Kempo Submishn.

Khayal Mamedzade (75 kg) and Mahir Alakparov (65 kg) became the winner in Kempo Submishn.

Azerbaijani team placed third in the medal standings. 

In 2016, Azerbaijani kempo fighters claimed a clutch of five gold medals at the World Martial Arts Games in Batumi, Georgia.

Moreover, Azerbaijani kempo fighters won three medals at the European Championships in Budapest, Hungary.
