National judokas claim 4 medals in Hungary

The 2017 World Judo Championship wrapped up in Hungary's capital Budapest.

The tournament brought together 782 judo fighters from 39 countries. Azerbaijan's national team included 7 judo fighters (9 men and 8 women).

The men's squad included Orkhan Safarov (60 kg), Nijat Shilkhaizade (66 kg), Rustam Orujov, Hidayat Heyderov (73 kg), Mammadali Mehdiyev, Tural Safguliyev (90 kg), Elhan Mammadov, Elmar Gasimov (100 kg) and Ushanqi Kokauri (over 100 kg).

Azerbaijan's female team included Bazarraqca Erdenebat (48 kg),Nazaket Azizova, Buyanxishiq Purevsuren (52 kg), Ichinhorlo Munkhtsedev (57kg), Sakina Zakirova (57kg), Gulzadaf Karimova (63kg), Irina Kindzerska (over 78 kg), Leyla Aliyeva (48kg).

Azerbaijani judo fighter brought home a clutch of 4 medals, including two silver and two bronze.

Orkhan Safarov claimed silver after defeating his teammate Elkhan Mammadov in the 100kg weight category. Rustam Orujov grabbed a silver medal after losing to Japanese Soichi Hashimoto in the final.

Azerbaijani judo fighter Elmar Gasimov claimed a bronze medal of the world championships. He secured the medal after defeating his teammate Elkhan Mammadov in the 100kg weight category.

Azerbaijani female judo fighter Irina Kindzerska bagged bronze at the championship. She gained a victory over Dutch Tessie Savelkouls.
