2017 ISSF World Cup Series opens in Gabala

The fifth and final stage of the 2017 ISSF World Cup Series has officially opened in Gabala on June 7.

Nearly 430 shooters from 45 countries will compete in Gabala at the final stage of the 2017 ISSF World Cup Series until June 14. The shooters will try to gain points and qualify for the ISSF World Cup Final scheduled for October in New Delhi.

Head of the Gabala Region Executive Committee Sabuhi Abdullayev, addressing the event, stressed importance of the competition.

 “I warmly welcome you all to Gabala, a rising city with centuries of history,” he said. “It’s very important for us to see you all here for this important competition, and we wish you all a safe and fair competition!”, he said.

ISSF Technical Delegate, Peter Underhill, for his part, thanked the International Shooting Sport Federation for organization of the event.

"On behalf of our President, Mr. Olegario Vazquez Raña, and of our Secretary General, Mr. Franz Schreiber, I thank you all for the unbelievable welcome. I want to express the gratitude of the whole International Shooting Sport Federation for being again the host of one of our competition. A competition that once more, you all delivered excellently", said Mr. Underhill. 

“I would also like to extend our special gratitude to all volunteers, whose contribution is always priceless,” he concluded, finally declaring the ISSF World Cup in Gabala officially open!

It will be the second ISSF World Cup stage hosted by the Gabala Shooting Club, after the one held in August 2015.

The event is co-organized by the Azerbaijan Ministry of Youth and Sports, the Gabala Shooting Club and Azerbaijan Shooting Federation.

The Shooting Sport season will continue this month with the ISSF Junior World Championship in Rifle/Pistol to be held in Suhl (Germany) on June 22-29. German city will also host the ISSF Target Sprint World Championship on June 22-26.

The ten final matches will be streamed live on the ISSF website, on the Federation’s Livestream channel and on its official Facebook page.

Thursday, June 8th

10m Air Rifle Women at 12:45 pm (UTC+4:00)

10m Air Rifle Men at 4:15 pm

Friday, June 9th

50m Pistol Men at 11:00 am

25m Pistol Women at 1:00 pm

Saturday, June 10th

25m Rapid Fire Pistol Men at 1:30 pm

Sunday, June 11th

50m Rifle Prone Men at 10:15 am

10m Air Pistol Women at 11:45 am

10m Air Pistol Men at 4:15 pm

Tuesday, June 13th

50m Rifle 3 Positions Women at 11:15 am

50m Rifle 3 Positions Men at 3:00 pm
