Baku hosts meeting of artistic gymnastics delegations within Islamic Solidarity Games

A meeting of representatives of delegations, arriving in Baku to participate in competitions on artistic gymnastics as part of the 4th Islamic Solidarity Games, was held on May 11.

Secretary General of the Azerbaijan Gymnastics Federation Farid Gaibov welcomed the members of delegations and wished them success in competitions.

Gaibov noted that the competitions will continue for four days. Firstly, rhythmic gymnastics performances will be demonstrated on May 12, and the competitions on artistic gymnastics will start the next day.

Addressing the event, Technical Delegate of the International Gymnastics Federation (FIG) Liubov Andrianova noted that competitions on women’s artistic gymnastics are included in the program of Islamic Solidarity Games for the first time, and this is a very pleasant step for the development of this type of sports.

FIG Technical Delegate on men’s artistic gymnastics Mario Vukoja, for his part, noted that competitions will be interesting as athletes will perform a new element there.

The Baku 2017 Islamic Solidarity Games, the opening ceremony of which will take place May 12, started May 8 and will last until May 22 in Azerbaijan’s capital.
