Azerbaijani GM pins high hopes for Chess Olympiad-ViDEO

Azerbaijani grandmaster Eltaj Safarli pins high hopes on the national team at the upcoming World Chess Olympiad World Chess Olympiad.

The tournament which will bring together about 2,000 chess masters from 180 countries will take place in Baku on September 1 to 14.

"Baku Chess Olympiad is the most important sporting event for the year of 2016.There are no weak opponents. I ask Azerbaijani people to believe in us! Watch Baku Chess Olympiad and support national team!", said Safarli.

The grandmaster promises to do his utmost to bring victory for national team.

The first World Chess Olympiad in Azerbaijan will be arranged at the Baku Crystal Hall, a multipurpose sports and concert arena. 

The number of guests is expected to reach up to 3,000.

The budget for the Olympiad is 13.3 million euros. Some 6.8 million euros are set aside for first-class accommodation for the players and delegates. Another 1 will go to the FIDE Commission for World Championships & Olympiads and intellectual rights.
