Azerbaijani soccer team’s coach happy with Baku Marathon

The Baku Marathon 2016 has brought together all the athletes, says Mahmud Gurbanov, the assistant coach of the Azerbaijani national soccer team, who has also taken part in the competition.

Gurbanov has told Trend that he is very happy to participate in this charity marathon.

"People of different nationalities, different professions and ages are taking part in the competition," he said.

"Many athletes have today gathered here and it is nice to meet them again," added Gurbanov.

The Baku Marathon 2016, organized at the initiative of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, kicked off May 1.

The course of the marathon covers a distance of 21 kilometers from its start point at the Flag Square to the finish line at the Baku Olympic Stadium.

The marathon started at 10:00 (UTC/GMT +4 hours). It will take a maximum of four hours and a half to overcome a 21-kilometer distance.
