Azerbaijani female gymnast says hopes to perform better in FIG World Cup finals

Azerbaijani female gymnast Sviatlana Makshtarova, who reached the finals in the FIG World Cup in Trampoline Gymnastics March 5, told reporters she hoped to perform much better March 6.

“I’m not very happy with my performance, I would like to perform better,” she said. “I replaced the program and made it easier, but tomorrow in the finals I’ll show a more complex one, and I hope I’ll succeed.”

She said that she had been performing in the national team of Azerbaijan for already two years and gradually learns Azerbaijani language.

Makshtarova went on to add that one of the main tasks for 2016 is to successfully perform at the European Championship in Spain.

Makshtarova took the sixth place, having scored 99.255 points and reached the finals of the competition as a result of the qualification event.

The FIG World Cup in Trampoline Gymnastics is being held at the National Gymnastics Arena in Baku.

Athletes from Europe, Japan, Australia and the US are participating in the World Cup, which opens the first season of the Olympic competitions.

Overall, 77 gymnasts (46 men and 31 women), who represent 17 countries, are to participate in the competitions.

Following the first day of the qualification event, the competitions will complete by finals on March 6.
