The International Rhythmic Gymnastics Tournament took place in the Bulgarian city of Plovdiv on October 16-18.
Some nine teams including Azerbaijan, Belgium, Tunis, Poland, Greece, Italy, and Russia took part at the competition.
Teams competed in benjamins, pre-juniors, and juniors categories from ages 10 to 15 years.
Azerbaijan was represented by young athletes of the “Ocaq” Sport Club.
A team in the group exercises consisting of Ulkar Huseynova, Fatima Akbarova, Gullu Aghalarzada, Maryam Safarova and Narin Gurbanova won a victory among 15 groups performing in the pre-juniors competition.
Individual gymnasts followed the group team’s example and increased the number of Azerbaijan’s medals.
The second and third gold was won by 15-year-old Narmin Bayramova. She won first place in the all-around and in the ball exercise. In the same age category, the silver went to 14-year-old gymnast Kamilla Aliyeva for her floor routine. And the youngest representative, 13-year-old Alina Mammadova, took ninth place in the all-around.
Afterward, the gymnasts in the elder category and pre-juniors joined the graceful contest among individual athletes. First place in the rings was awarded to Narin Gurbanova, who successfully tested her strength both in the individual and group program. In floor exercises the bronze was brought in by Farida Shafiyarzada.
Two silver medals were taken by junior Zohra Aghamirova in the gymnastic rings. And her peer Ayna Jafarova became the sixth after a ball performance.
The event organizers also awarded the representatives of “Ocaq” Sports Club with a prize in “The Most Artistic Gymnast” nomination.
