World Cup hero James Rodriguez opens door to Real

Real Madrid have the green light to negotiate for James Rodríguez. 'Los Blancos' possess all the necessary information to make a move for the player who has set the Brazil World Cup alight. Real are aware of the player's conditions and how much he would cost to sign. Monaco appear willing to let him leave and all Real have to do is kick start negotiations to sign the Colombian star.

The first thing to come to light was the player's willingness to sign for Real Madrid. As a lifelong Madrid fan, he would see two dreams come true: playing for the team he has supported since he was a kid, and doing so alongside his hero, Cristiano Ronaldo. "I'd like to play in Spain and I prefer Real Madrid to Barcelona," Rodríguez said recently.

This fact helps to pave the way for a deal, given that the player would do everything in his power to play under Carlo Ancelotti at Madrid. This is key given the Colombian's high salary at Monaco.

If Real have negotiating personal terms with the player under control, then striking a deal with the French club would not be out of the question. They paid Porto €45m for James Rodríguez last summer and they aren't going to just give him away, but Real already know that they could negotiate a reduction in his transfer fee. That is where Jorge Mendes comes into play given his excellent relationship with Monaco.
