Azerbaijani figure skating duo to vie for world medals

Azerbaijan`s Yulia Zlobina/Aleksei Sitnikov pair will compete in the World Figure Skating Championships in Saitama, Japan.

The championship`s medals will be awarded in the disciplines of men`s singles, ladies` singles, pairs, and ice dancing. The event will also determine the number of entries a country may send to the 2015 World Championships.

Japan was named as the host in June 2011. Saitama was confirmed as the city in February 2013.

Zlobina paired with Sitnikov won the championship of Estonia in 2011. Furthermore, Zlobina is the bronze medalist of the 2011 Ondrej Nepela Memorial. Together with Alexei Sitnikov she won the license for the Olympic Winter Games in Sochi in 2013. Azerbaijan`s pair has claimed 12th place at the Sochi Games with 148.63 points.
