Falcao's World Cup hopes revive

14 March 2014 [13:20] - TODAY.AZ
The surgeon who operated on Radamel Falcao believes that the forward could be fit to represent Colombia at this summer's World Cup.

It initially appeared that the Monaco ace had little hope of travelling to Brazil after suffering anterior cruciate ligament damage in a Coupe de France match in January.

However, Jose Carlos Noronha says that Falcao is on course to return to action before June.

"Each case is different but he is on the right track," the surgeon told L'Equipe. "He has recovered very well.

"I still believe he could play the World Cup; there is no reason why it could not work."

Falcao has netted 20 times in 51 appearances for Colombia, who have been drawn in Group C alongside Greece, Ivory Coast and Japan.
