World's eyes on 'El Clasico'

21 October 2013 [13:15] - TODAY.AZ
In every Barça-Madrid game over the last few years, the spotlight has mainly shone on the sides' two superstars, Leo Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo – a duel between the two best players in the world. This year, however, two newcomers will also be vying for their time on centre stage – Neymar Jr. and Gareth Bale.

The Brazilian has taken to his new side perfectly. Lord of the left wing, Neymar is a constant threat and efforts made to keep him at bay invariably provide goal-scoring opportunities for his teammates. Moreover, his connection with Messi is sublime.

His gameplay, however, has been the cause of much debate. The Camp Nou often complains of the constant fouls that the player receives, and the brutal tackles he is subject to in the defenders' frantic efforts to keep him in check. Martino himself complained of this rough treatment after the game in El Sadar. Other football enthusiasts criticise him for exaggerating these hard tackles, and more than a few accuse him of diving.

The Brazilian played for a few minutes against Málaga, and there we saw an inkling of what this young player is capable of, forcing a non-existent penalty. Another subject much talked about is whether Bale should start in this big match, or whether Ancelotti should continue to rely on the services of Isco and Di María. Who will be the stars of the show at the Camp Nou? In a week's time, we will know...
