His name is Bruma, he is 18 years old and he is seen as one of Portugal’s most promising footballing talents. He joined Galatasaray this summer and is aiming for a starting place against Real Madrid.
Of Guinean descent, his beginnings bear a great deal of resemblance to those of his hero, Cristiano Ronaldo. Bruma joined Sporting when he was 12, the same age as Cristiano when he arrived in Lisbon.
His skill, technique and eye for goal made the coaches at Sporting sit up and take notice that they had a real talent in their midst.
Bruma made all the headlines in Portugal this summer when, after winning the golden boot for Portugal at the Under-20 World Cup in Turkey, he decided that he wanted to leave Sporting. Bruma finally joined Galatasaray for €12m on a deal worth €10m to the Portuguese youngster.
He made his Galatasaray debut this weekend against Antalyaspor. He played 30 minutes on the left wing and put in a good performance, so much so, that he might even start against Real Madrid.
"I feel like I’m living in a dream. I have the chance to play in front of my idol and I still cannot believe that this is happening. At the Sporting academy we all saw Cristiano as a role model," Bruma told.
