Azerbaijani chess grandmaster Shahriyar Mammadyarov has climbed the top of the table of FIDE Grand Prix Series in Beijing, China, thanks to a win over Dutch Anish Giri in the 9th round.
Mammadyarov now has 6.5 points, and the next round pits him against Russian Alexander Morozevich.
The masters event, which involves 12 grandmasters, will feature 11 rounds.
