Ozil confesses Zidane dub

11 July 2013 [16:30] - TODAY.AZ
The Real Madrid playmaker revealed he would look for videos of the France legend in action in order to try to emulate his skills on the pitch
Real Madrid star Mesut Ozil claims he used to spend hours looking for videos of Zinedine Zidane on YouTube - and then try to copy his moves.

The German's creativity and skill on the ball have lead to comparisons with the France icon, and the Blancos attacking midfielder admits the similarity in style is no accident.

"I discovered Zizou [Zidane] at the World Cup in France, in '98," the 24-year-old explained in an interview with So Sport.

"From that moment on I always asked to be Real Madrid or the France national team when playing video games.

"When I saw him make a move, I looked for it on YouTube. I wrote 'Zinedine Zidane' in the search bar and watched his videos.

"I said to myself 'I have to do that on the pitch'. It turned out I could imitate his moves quite quickly. I've never seen so much charisma on the pitch."

Ozil will have the chance to work closely with Zidane in the coming season, after the Madrid director of football was confirmed as one of coach Carlo Ancelotti's new assistants.
