MU eyes SAF to lure CR7

15 June 2013 [11:40] - TODAY.AZ
MANCHESTER UNITED are ready to use the pulling power of Alex Ferguson to help land Cristiano Ronaldo.

The Real Madrid superstar was disappointed when the 71-year-old retired at the end of last season.

Part of the winger’s attraction of a return to Old Trafford was to work again with the man he regarded as a father figure.

But United still believe Fergie’s influence as a director at the club will work in their favour.

And they believe a word from the ex-boss in Ron’s ear can swing a transfer their way.

Ferguson will not be meddling with the new era of David Moyes but if he can encourage Ronaldo to come back he will do so.

The Portugal ace and Ferguson have remained close since the player left in 2009 for £80million.

When Fergie’s retirement was announced Ronaldo simply tweeted: “Thanks for everything, Boss.”

It was another tweet yesterday that gave United fans hope, which said: “All the news about my renewal with Real Madrid are false.”

That offered further encouragement to United who are willing to offer £65m plus a player — or straight cash if need be.

Gareth Bale could also play a part in the saga.

If Ronny stays United will bid £85m for the Spurs winger. But if Bale, 23, goes to Madrid they hope it will signal Ron’s return.
