Nadal topples Djokovic down

08 June 2013 [09:00] - TODAY.AZ
Rafael Nadal, seeded No. 3, has eliminated No. 1 Novak Djokovic and has advanced to Sunday's French Open final. The Spaniard has beaten Djokovic 6-4, 3-6, 6-1, 6-7 (3/7), 9-7. Now he'll face the winner of David Ferrer against Frenchman Jo-Wilfried Tsonga in the other semi-final.

It has been a much-anticipated rematch of last year's final, which Nadal won for a record seventh French Open title. He's 58-1 at Roland Garros and bidding to become first man to win eight titles at the same Grand Slam event.

The Serb, ranked No. 1 and the winner of six Grand Slam titles, was seeking the only major championship he has yet to win. With two more victories he would have become the eighth man to complete a career Grand Slam.
