'We are Barca and playing at home'

27 April 2013 [09:00] - TODAY.AZ
Tito Vilanova refuted claims that Barcelona's 4-0 defeat in Munich marks the end of an era. "In top-level sport, it is very difficult to stay on top and always win. Barça has been at an extremely high level for three years. Within any era, there are always higher points when you win titles and others when it's not so easy," he remarked.

When it was suggested that it would be "almost impossible" to reach a seventh consecutive Champions League semi-final, he replied: "With six we've achieved a real feat. Seven would be the out of this world. I don't think it's the end of an era, not at all," he stressed.

Based on his own experience, he insisted that on the first day "you feel terrible; the second, not much better; but as the days go by, you see things differently. You can't move on in life if you think everything is going badly".

"We're Barcelona and we're playing Bayern at home. You wouldn't believe me if I came out here and said that we're definitely going to make a comeback, because it's not easy. But we have a responsibility to our fans to go out and compete. We know that it's a big ask and who we're facing. Afterwards, I'll listen to all the critics. But before then, I'm not going to throw in the towel," he assured.

"There's no better way to keep winning than by beating the one who's hurt you. Obviously there's always room for improvement, but we're having an excellent season in the league. We have to prove that the other day was an accident, try and believe it ourselves and make sure people believe we've done all we can," he finished by saying.
