Int'l cycle tour dedicated to National Leader heydar Aliyev's 90th anniversary starts in Baku

A press conference dedicated to the presentation of “Tour of Azerbaijan 2013” route was held today at the Excelsior Hotel in Baku.

Sahib Alekperov, Vice President of the Cycling Federation of Azerbaijan and Albrecht Roeder, the developer of Tour of Azerbaijan 2013 route informed the participants on the preperational works, as well as route of the race and answered the questions of journalists.

The Azerbaijani race is a 2.2 event on the UCI Europe Tour which will start in Baku, pass seven Azerbaijani regions and end up in the capital.   

The Tour of Azerbaijan will start on May 1st in Baku near Heydar Aliyev Center. Having passed 11 laps (157 km) through the avenue named after the national leader of Azerbaijan, the participants will finish near the Center building.

On May 2nd, starting from the brand new cycle park on the shore of the Caspian Sea the peloton will move towards the Great Caucasus ridge and finish near Ismayilli.
On May 3rd, the participants will head for Sheki from Gabala and passing Oguz. Afterwards they will go back to Gabala (165 km).

On May 4th, the stage will start at Gabala, wherefrom the peloton will move towards Shemakhi and finish near the famous Pirguli Observatory in 116 km.

The final stage will pass through the central avenues and streets of Azerbaijan capital – Baku city, making 12 laps of 144 km length.
