Azeri mountaineers conquer Pamirs

On August 11, members of the national team of Azerbaijan in mountaineering - Firuz Dadashov, Rufat Gojayev and Sirhan Mammadov made a successful ascent on one of the highest peaks of the Pamirs, Eugene Korjenevskaya Peak of 7105 meters altitude.

This climb was dedicated to the memory of outstanding Azerbaijani composer and conductor Niyazi.

The expedition was organized by the National Federation of Mountaineering, with the support of the Ministry of Youth and Sports, as part of the project under the patronage of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation.

Under this project, the Federation organizes sport expeditions to the alpine regions of the world.

On June 19, Azerbaijani climbers had another expedition to another giant peak of the Pamirs, Abu Ali Ibn Sina (formerly Lenin Peak, 7134 m). This climb was dedicated to the memory of outstanding Azerbaijani statesman, founder of the Karabakh khanate and its ruler - Panah Ali Khan Javanshir.
