Azeri boxer Magomedrasul Majidov’s passing to semifinal of Olympic Games in London caused a storm of debate in the Russian media. The Russian media did not remain indifferent to the fact that Azerbaijani boxer, world champion 2011 Magomedrasul Majidov has won his Russian opponent Magomed Omarov.
The fight ended 17:14 (4:4, 6:7, 7:3) in favor of Magomedrasul Majidov who reached the semifinal and ensured at least a bronze award. Since Majidov and Omarov are natives of Dagestan, the Russian press called their meeting "Dagestani derby."
Reports say that Majidov, being the winner of the Baku 2011 World Cup, made considerable progress after engaging in a national team of Azerbaijan.
Describing the style of Majidov, the Russian media said he has a “discipline and high morale.”
