Baku hosts Int'l Bowling Tournament

The first International Bowling Tournament - President's Cup has started here at the Baku Entertainment Center on Thursday. Speaking at the opening ceremony, Deputy Youth and Sport minister Ismayil Ismayilov has greeted the participants and expressed success to the teams.

Deputy Minister spoke of the care and attention of President Ilham Aliyev to the development of sports in the country.

The event has been also addressed by President of Azerbaijan Bowling Federation Javanshir Khalilov, as well as Andrew Papusha, Executive Director of the All -Ukrainian Bowling Federation, Lithuanian Ambassador to Azerbaijan Kestutis Kudzmanas who hailed the organization of the competition.

The organizers of the tournament are: Azerbaijan Bowling Sport Federation and Ministry of Youth and Sport. The tournament which is due to run from July 6 to 8 will host visiting 48 athletes from the CIS countries and abroad.

The bronze medalist of the world championship, as well as the European champions is among the foreign athletes. The prize fund of the competition is $10 000.
