Int'l Chess Festival in due Nakhchivan

An International Chess Festival called “Nakhchivan Open-2012” dedicated to the 89th anniversary of Azerbaijan national leader Heydar Aliyev will be held from April 28-May 6 in Nakhchivan.

The aim of the festival is to commemorate Azerbaijan`s national leader Heydar Aliyev, as well as to develop and popularize chess in the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic.

The Swiss system tournament will be held in 9 rounds. The total prize fund of the tournament amounts to $ 40000. The first tournament of the festival will bring together 55 chess players from Azerbaijan, Georgia, Russia, Turkey, Uzbekistan, Moldova, the Netherlands, Belarus and Iran.
