Azerbaijan Kickboxing Championship finishes

The 18th Azerbaijan Kickboxing Championship was held at the sports hall of the Azerbaijan Technical University on April 18-22. About 400 sportsmen representing 43 different teams took part in the contest. Sportsmen (children, cadets and adults) participating in the championship were split into the three groups. The sportsmen of the Golden Glove sports club won a highest amount of medals in this tough and interesting competition.

Four medals were won among children (Faig Janbakhishli 24 kg, Hasanbala Hasanov 26.5 kg, Heydarov Parvin 33 kg, Jahid Gurbanov 39 kg). The team of cadets who won 3 medals (Nejmaddin Mammadzade 36 kg, Umid Aliyev 39 kg, Ramig Allahverdiyev 45 kg) has also managed to score a high result among adults. The Club's sportsmen who were included into this group won a total of 11 medals. 5 of them are golden medals (Kamran Orujov 54 kq, Jahangir Mammadov 57 kg, Mahammad Nasirov 67 kg, Samir Kazimov 86 kg, Anar Mammadov 91 kg), 4 silver medals (Ceyhun Guliyev 63.5 kg, Zaur Ramazanov 71 kg, Rafig Aliyev 81 kg, Maharram Aliyev 91 kg), 2 bronze medals (Mehdi Seyidov 51 kg, Jahandar Aliyev 60 kg). Golden glove sports club which took the first position left Neftchi (second place) and Dinamo Sports Community (third place) behind.

Sportsmen who won medals at the 18th championship are going to represent Azerbaijan's national team at the World Cup championship to be held in May in Hungary and European Championship which is to be held in Turkey in September.

It is noteworthy that Akkord Industrial Construction Investment Corporation OJSC lends support to the development and participation of the Golden Glove Sports club in international contests.
