Azerbaijan's team ranked 1st in int'l judo tournament

The 35th international judo tournament in memory of twice Hero of the Soviet Union, mayor-general Hazi Aslanov ended at Astara Olympic Sports Center this weekend. The tournament co-organized by the Ministry of Youth and Sport, Judo Federation and the Baku Central Department of Youth and Sports brought together about 200 judo fighters from 5 countries including Azerbaijan, Turkey, Russia, Georgia, Kazakhstan and Iran.

As a result of the tournament, the 1st place winners became judo fighters Aziza Baktibay from Kazakhstan weighing in at 44 kg, from Azerbaijan - Nariman Ahmadov at 46 kg, Aksana Ahmadova at 52 kg, Naim Huseynov at 66 kg, Rashid Guliyev at 81 kg and Mahammad Maharramov at 90 kg, Georgian Djaba Liparteliani at 73 kg and Bakari Kukhianidze at 90 kg.

In total medal count, the Azerbaijan team ranked 1st, Georgian 2nd, Kazakhstan and Russia 3rd respectively. The winners were awarded with medals and diplomas. The international tournament was broadcasted live in dysbaku.az website.
