AFFA hails FIFA proposals

06 February 2012 [15:46] - TODAY.AZ
The Azerbaijani Association of Football Federations (AFFA) has expressed its views at the changes FIFA wants to make to its football rules.

The International Federation of Association Football (FIFA) submitted some specialist issues for consideration. Permission on the fourth replacement of a player during a match instead of the current three and the regulation of controversial incidents in the game using video and mitigation of a triple penalty when a penalty is used for a violation where a player gets a red card with further disqualification are among these issues being examined.

The chairman of the AFFA judicial committee Khagani Mammadov said that a part of the proposed innovations is required.

"The speed with which modern football has increased," Mammadov told Trend on Monday. "When one watches the World Cup-1970, it seems that TV problems are almost in slow motion."

He said that the permission of the fourth replacement will maintain a high tempo during the game. "Taking into account that the physical training of Azerbaijani football players is not at a proper level, this innovation is beneficial for us," he said.

Regarding the settlement of controversial points in the game with the help of video, the chairman of the AFFA Judicial Committee said that it is already used in other kinds of sports. Mr Mammadov approves the softening of the triple penalty clause for violation in the penalty area.
