New TV channel to start operating in Azerbaijan from mid-February

New Culture TV channel will start to function fromFebruary 14, it has been noted in the meeting with leadership of Azerbaijan Television and Radio Broadcasting AzTV held at the Ministry of Culture and Tourism.

Minister of Culture and Tourism Abulfaz Garayev congratulated TV staff on occasion of establishment of “Culture” channel and noted that the ministry was interested in further cooperation with Azerbaijani television as well. Speaking about the recent successful steps taken in cultural life of the country, the minister said that the head of state signed more than 300 documents which comprise the sphere of culture. By reconstruction works and cultural reforms Baku has became into cultural capital. The country is being represented in international cultural arena decently, as well as hosts several famous international contests, festivals. The Minister expressed that Culture channel would meet all needs for lightening and propaganda of these processes.

AZTV Chairman Arif Alishanov said that main purpose of the channel was to propagandize Azerbaijani culture as a part of world culture, as well as along with ongoing cultural reforms, to propagandize national cultural values, historical examples of architecture and tourism potential of the country: “Azerbaijani Television has enough practice, rich fund, modern technical equipment and professional staff for successful activity of “Culture” channel. The channel to start activity on February 14 will be broadcasted via both terrestrial transmissions and satellite”.

Broadcasting planning, program, variety of topics and cooperation opportunities of new channel were discussed at the meeting.
