Baku Traffic Police will fine drivers, passengers for unfastened seat belt

26 January 2011 [15:45] - TODAY.AZ
The Baku State Traffic Police will take strict measures against drivers and passengers for unfastened seat belt.
The violators will be punished in accordance with the requirements of the law, Baku State Traffic Police Department Spokesman Vagif Asadov told Trend.

Drivers and passengers, who ignore safety belts, have a responsibility under the article 37 of the "Low on Road Traffic", Asadov said. Avoiding the use of belts reduces the probability of survival during an accident, he added.

"Given this threat, we urge drivers and passengers to use seat belts. Otherwise, stringent measures will be taken in respect of them," Asadov said.

In accordance with article 151.1 of the Administrative Violations Code a fine in the amount of 20 manat is provided for the non-use of seat belts.
